October 2025 marks a special milestone: 15 years of Amsterdam Funk Channel!

What started in 2010 as a passionate initiative by founder Lesley Jones, has now grown into the number 1 in funky grooves, soulful vibes and timeless dance classics. Five decades of beats, rhythm, soul and above all: community.

The birth of a groove revolution

In the fall of 2010, Lesley Jones, music lover par excellence, turned his dream into action. With a deep love for 80s and 90s R&B, weird grooves, funk and soul, he founded Amsterdam Funk Channel. Not just any radio station, but a musical movement with a mission: bringing the funky sound back to the people.

Where commercial radio stations seemed to lose their soul more and more, AFC brought those forgotten gems, timeless classics and underground vibes back to the forefront. From Earth, Wind & Fire to Jamiroquai, from Keith Sweat to Bruno Mars – at AFC you hear music with character, with history, with feeling.

15 Years of Pure Funky Grooves

For fifteen years, we have remained true to our sound. No concessions, no algorithms – just real music for real enthusiasts. What started with a few hundred listeners per month has now grown into a loyal community of thousands of funkheads worldwide. Our regular shows, such as Soulfood, Royal Classic Grooves, The Quiet Storm and The Dance Classics Show, are a regular part of many people’s weekly routine.
